The department was established in 1929
The department carries on the health and recreation activity for students of National Mining University and improves the level of training and results in different kinds of sport
Over recent five years members of the department prepared:
- 10 International Masters of Sports;
- 30 Masters of Sports of Ukraine;
- About 280 advanced sportsmen and Candidate Master of Sports of Ukraine in different kinds of sport.
